Penelopes Sonnet

10/01/2025

Odysseus, I know you are still there,

Come back home and to my loving embrace.

I don’t know your roads have lead you to where,

But, all these knights keep fighting for your place.

Odysseus, my heart won’t let you go.

Your feet will walk you right back to this bed,

Not fates or stars that keep me in this hope,

But, you I know deep down and in my head.

I see you now, you say a different man —

Than one I loved before I knew of loss.

Horrors you’ve waged against the odds that ran

To delay you from keeping straight on course.

I loved you then when life was far unknown,

I love you now when life has dealt its blows.
